The Origin Story: Built Out of Necessity
Like a lot of developers, I didn’t set out to build a WordPress plugin. I got involved with WordPress because I was running a real e-commerce store with thousands of product photos, custom variations, and a media library that had grown completely out of hand—to the point where nobody dared touch it.

Every existing cleanup plugin we tried asked us to leap blind: “Delete these files?” None of them could tell us why a file looked unused, or what critical layout or product page would break if we hit delete. We weren’t willing to risk breaking a live store on a guess.

So, we built the tool we actually wanted:

Explain, then act: A tool that maps every reference first so you can see the why behind every finding.

Reversible by default: Moving messy files into a secure, restorable quarantine first, leaving permanent deletion as a completely separate, deliberate step.

What started strictly as an internal script to keep our own store fast, clean, and manageable turned into Media & Products Cleanup. Today, that same philosophy guides everything we do at Lucid Lab—building calm software for important data so store owners and agencies can reclaim gigabytes without a single broken product page.
