    Bio

    The Rope is a digital agency based in Milan. We design and build custom WordPress sites with themes written from scratch, headless WordPress builds and WooCommerce stores, and we take care of SEO, accessibility and content production for the brands we work with. Our plugins come out of problems we solve on real projects.

    Interests

    WordPress as an application framework, headless WordPress, web performance, accessibility (WCAG 2.2 and the European Accessibility Act), image provenance and content credentials (IPTC, C2PA), AI in content production.

    WordPress Origin Story

    For more than ten years WordPress has been our framework of choice. We use it as an application framework rather than a theme marketplace: every theme we ship is written from scratch around the client’s content model. Ropemark Image Marking is our first plugin in the directory. It started when we noticed that AI-generated images lost their provenance data the moment WordPress resized them, right when the EU AI Act made that data mandatory.
