Bio

“ZX Spectrum 48K” was my first computer back in the ’80s. It was love at first sight. Spectrum and C64 were the 2nd generation of home computers and possibly the 1st generation of usable ones. I still enjoy arguing which one is “better”!

Like computers, no one can be good at everything. I focus on two or three areas at a time, outsourcing the rest. These days it’s mainly JavaScript (especially React), WordPress, and Linux system administration.

I enjoy enriching my skill-set to provide reliable code to clients. I am a huge WordPress aficionado, with experience in theme and plugin creation and various ways of adding functionalities to WP (third-party services, frameworks integration…). I strive to build long term relationship with clients. In the last few years I mainly focused on learning, and getting deeper understanding of JavaScript, since I believe it is the language of future generations.

After graduation, I worked my way up in the profession in the following order (both for domestic and for foreign companies):

· Hardware shop and service ORTEK where I learned about ways to keep hardware happy…

· Techical Support for EUnet (Serbia) and DATAGATE (United Kingdom) where I learned to keep customers happy and solve problems…

· Network Operations Centre of Medical Faculty where I learned skills related to networking infrastructure, system administration and security related stuff…

· Freelancer at Upwork which is where I currently mainly strive to offer Frontend services…

WordPress Origin Story

October 2011 … I had to make a website for a local Tai Chi club ASAP … Modded a free theme, didn’t break the deadline – and the site is still running it @ taichihuakang.com. Time passed… After metting some cool guys at a WP MeetUp i decided to attend WordCamp Europe – Belgrade 2018. My eyes opened to new possibilities. I especially enjoyed “The Ethics of Web Design – Morten Rand-Hendriksen” and “JavaScript APIs in WordPress – Adam Silverstein”. WP is still my favourite CMS and I operate a number of sites on a daily basis – as an admin, editor, SEO consultant or co-author.
