    Bio

    Stephen was for many years the IT Manager for his family’s business, and web development is mainly a hobby. Beyond the “official” WordPress plugins at wordpress.org, he maintains a number of additional WP plugins on his web site at http://striderweb.com/nerdaphernalia/ as well as a small number of well-received WP tutorials.

    WordPress Origin Story

    I started my first blog before I’d ever heard the word “blog”. At first hand-coded, then I moved to GreyMatter. When that wasn’t enough, I switched to WordPress (somewhere around v2.0 or so…?).

    My first WP plugin came about after I’d read Jeremy Keith’s excellent book “DOM Scripting”, and I thought, “Hey, I could totally use JavaScript to make pull-quotes on the fly”. A bit of serendipity lead from there to a chance encounter with Alex Mills (Viper007Bond) in the comments section of somebody else’s blog, and the rest is history.

    Please note that only a couple of my plugins are in the official WordPress repository — several more are on my web site. This may change in the future, of course.
