WordPress Origin Story

I attended my first WordCamp in Miami because I was working with legal clients and law students to get their sites done and was looking to meet reliable web developers and agencies. I volunteered to assist with the Beginner’s Workshop, Registration Table and MC the Business Track and from that point on, I was hooked. Through volunteering, I met and spent time with the speakers and agency owners who became my clients and friends; they have introduced me, referred me business, invited me to speak at WordCamps, on their podcasts and webinars. The WordPress Community it second to none.

WordPress changed the trajectory of my life and legal practice. Researching a client’s privacy obligation led me to Heather Burns and WebDev Law which lead me to GDPR, IAPP and earning their CIPM and CIPP/E designations. Because of WordPress and the WordPress Community in one year, I have spoken at conferences all over the US and Europe, I have privacy clients all over the world and am teaching privacy to other attorneys and judges.

I love spending time and chatting with other entrepreneurs. We all succeed by promoting, encouraging, and educating each other. I love how diverse the group is, different ages, experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives, having a safe and respectful environment to exchange ideas and even disagree, at times, creates an opportunity for unparalleled learning and evolution.

WordCamp Miami will always have a special place in my heart for being my first and favorite WordCamp, and the Camp that changed the trajectory of my career.
