Bio

I work as a server administrator and software developer for the Basisdemokratische Partei Deutschland (dieBasis).

I earned my first stripes between 1999 and 2003 on the so-called “Jaginforum,” where I worked as a webmaster. The Jaginforum was an association of early Internet entrepreneurs. There, I not only learned alot about website development and server administration, but also a great deal about CGI development and Perl. Later, PHP was added and more or less completely replaced Perl—much in the same way that the CMS principle eventually replaced the old frame-based websites.

Today, I primarily develop in HTML5 and rely on WordPress as the foundation for about 90% of my projects.

WordPress Origin Story

I’m a classic late bloomer when it comes to WordPress. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, I was still enthusiastically building framesets. When PHP became useful, I created my first websites with it and usually integrated the menus using PHP include.

I built my first WordPress websites around 2011. In 2014, I developed my first custom theme, followed by my first self-developed plugin in 2016. At the time, these were all commissioned projects that were not made publicly available and contained only a few features that were otherwise unavailable.
