WordPress Origin Story

My journey with WordPress started 13 years ago when I created a website called “Lojas na Internet” and went around selling subscriptions to local businesses in the city where I was studying. One of those businesses was a small advertising agency that also published the city’s newspaper. The owner invited me to work on developing institutional websites, saying, “We already have a client.” That client was a small game store. I used a popular Elegant Themes template at the time—I don’t remember the name, but the site turned out great!
