WordPress Origin Story

I was drawn to WordPress in 2016 because a discussion forum that was successful for 15 years was getting hammered by spammers, traffic and posts had declined coincident with the rise of facebook, and my host was going out of business so I needed a new host.. The change to WordPress was initially challenging because compared with HTML and Dreamweaver, the whole thing seemed counterintuitive. The learning curve was steep for me. Now things seem to be working out much better. GDPR has been a very positive step because, in the course of writing a privacy policy, I’ve had to integrate my registration process and think through user privacy and make thing friendlier so I can actually rebuild the site so it will hopefully work better than it did before.
