    Hey there! My name is Owen and I’m a systems admin and freelance software engineer. I’m currently the webmaster for three WordPress websites. I prioritize performance, security, and long-term sustainability and I specialize in custom post types, content workflows, API integrations, and accessibility compliance. I believe in developing open-source software that enables organizations and individuals to publish, preserve, and share information.

    WordPress Origin Story

    I was born in 2003, so I’m the same age as WordPress! I first got my hands on a WordPress environment in 2019 when I was asked to create a website for a local business. I then inherited my local public access station’s website when I was hired as their Distribution Coordinator while studying Computer Science. After maintaining a bloated environment with an outdated theme for almost two years, I developed a custom sync engine with their existing Video On Demand infrastructure. This gave them complete control over their video archive. This is when I learned the fundamentals of WordPress development and honed my PHP and JavaScript skills. My first plugin, Public Signal Video Feed, is now available on the Plugin Directory!
