Bio

I’m a computer scientist from Italy, working in platform security and cloud engineering. I build and defend the systems that other people’s code runs on , containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and lately the security side of AI agents.

I’ve been writing code since I was a kid and messing with WordPress since 2007. My site (staniscia.net) is my personal lab: I use it to test ideas, break things, and occasionally write about what I learn.

Outside work: combat sports, photography, and long walks with my dog. I believe good engineering is mostly about trust, clear intent, and not overcomplicating things.

WordPress Origin Story

I discovered WordPress around 2006, while studying Computer Science. I needed a blog for my notes and projects, and WordPress was the perfect excuse to learn PHP properly.

I didn’t just use it, I started building plugins. Between 2011 and 2016 I published a few of them on wordpress.org: EndomondoWP (to embed sports workouts), Odyno GoogleGroups (to embed Google Groups discussions), a vertical timeline plugin, and some others. Nothing huge, but they taught me how to write code that other people actually run.

WordPress also gave me my first open source experiences: reporting bugs, writing documentation, answering in support forums. That habit of sharing became a permanent part of how I work.

Today I’m less active as a plugin author, but I still use WordPress every day and I still love the community. This site runs on WordPress since 2010 and it’s not going anywhere.
