WordPress Origin Story

My WordPress journey began when a friend invited me to attend WordCamp Mukono 2026. During the session we were encouraged to created a WordPress.org account and made my first contribution by submitting a photo to the WordPress Photo Directory. When my photo was approved, I felt encouraged and realized that I could also contribute to and be part of the WordPress.

That experience sparked my interest in the WordPress community and open-source contribution. I later attended WordCamp Kampala 2026, where I connected with community members, many of whom I met at wordcamp Mukono. Through these experiences, I found a welcoming community that inspired me to learn, contribute and grow. Since then, WordPress has become more than just a platform to me it’s a community and family where I can connect, collaborate and make a meaningful impact.
