I successfully recovered my personal wiki from non-booting server. Key steps:
a) live CD rescue tools to copy original harddrive to other storage. This includes wordpress folders.
b) reload Ubuntu Server and LEMP onto server PC and get basic system functioning
c) copy wordpress webfile tree to new web space
d) spend too much time dinking around trying to rescue mySQL database, and give up
e) SILVER BULLET is backwpup archive with recent copy of mySQL image buried in it.
f) –> do the basic install from the wordpress Readme.html file. (note that it reads your exisint wp-config.php file)
g) –>(using phpmyadmin) edit the wordpress database in mySQL to delete contents (tables, etc)
h) –>import the backup database into the empty wordpress db in mySQL
i) [in my case, I changed folder location to the replacement wiki, so manually went through all wordpress tables to ‘find and replace’ pathnames]
j) reboot/restart the server and try logging into your wordpress wiki
k) update plugins

You may need to manually (re)create the 'themes' folder/directory, then re-install your theme.
