Retired IT guy who thought he’d try his hand at writing a WordPress / WooCommerce plug-in.

WordPress Origin Story

Back in the day …

While employed at a large US health insurance firm, I launched a project to roll out our first intranet. Pretty soon the Executive Staff was excited about doing blogs as part of the internal communications strategy. I worked with the internal communications department and we rolled out a pretty sophisticated WordPress blog to every senior staff member who wanted one.

You can pretty much figure out how that went. Within six months, no one was blogging anymore except the Compliance Department. We plunged headlong into the trough of disillusionment. Still, the communications department and I continued to evangelize and improve. Within a couple years, the blogs had become the standard communications vehicle for Information Security, the Cheif Health Officer, Compliance, and the CEO.

I moved on to IT Infrastructure. It feels good to return now to WordPress and a community of open source developers.
