Bio

Hi! I’m Margherita, born and raised in a small town in Italy, where the landscape is made up of hills dotted with wheat fields, sunflowers, vineyards, and olive groves. There is no traffic noise and that is good, but the downside is that I often struggle with a bad internet signal.

I’m a freelance web designer since 2013

I help freelance women professionals and women small business owners thrive online with their ventures, managing their websites, blogs, and e-commerce stores. I build them, maintain them, and fix them using the open-source WordPress platform.

I also dedicate part of my free time to WordPress itself, serving as a Content Translator for the Training Team, organizing WordPress Meetup Ancona, managing the social media channels for WordPress Community Italia, and undertaking various other online and in-person activities, primarily focusing on Accessibility & DEI Advocacy.

In 2022, I was honored to receive the Kim Parsell Scholarship from the WordPress Foundation, and in 2023, I was selected to participate in the WordPress Community Summit at National Harbor, MD.

I collect lipsticks (or other make-up) and stationary—pens, colored pencils, stickers and notebooks (can you see why I love going to WordCamps?!). And I’m always up for pizza night.

Interests

People, cats, stationary & lipsticks. Not necessarily in that order.

– WordCamp Verona 2025 (October 2025, talking about Accessibility in practice inside Community channel i.e. Slack, Github, Rosetta blogs, social networks etc.);
– WordCamp Torino 2026 (talking about Accessibility in Email Marketing).

As WordPress Foundation’s Kim Parsell Memorial Scholarship Recipient in 2022, I could attend WordCamp US in San Diego (CA). I was one of 125 people invited to join and discuss at WordPress Community Summit in National Harbor (MD) in 2023.

I am looking for sponsorship to contribute as a mentor in the WP Credits program.

Key Accomplishments

In 2025, I co-authored a handbook in Italian titled “Accessibility for Contributors” with Lidia Pellizzaro and Chiara Petrosso, to help make the Italian WordPress community accessible to all, removing digital barriers to welcome and retain new open-source contributors (regardless of the digital devices or assistive technologies they use to contribute).

In 2024 Co-Leader of the working group tasked with writing the Manifesto of Italian WordPress Community. The Manifesto is a summary of the values that the Community embraces and the behaviors expected of those who choose to participate in the Community and contribute to WordPress.
