I began using WordPress in 2005, shortly after joining the WordPress announcement mailing list in September of that year. At the time, I was blogging on another popular platform that was recently acquired by a large company, and I was looking for more control—particularly native comments and features without relying on third-party services.

To make the switch, I upgraded my personal domain to support MySQL, installed WordPress, and exported my blog content to my own site. That move gave me full ownership of my content and its structure, which is what originally drew me to WordPress.

Since then, I’ve created, managed, and maintained many blogs, with much of my work focused on WordPress itself—its extensibility, long-term stability, and the freedom it gives site owners.
