Bio

KVWB stands for Keurmerk Verantwoord Webbeheer, a Dutch quality mark for responsible web management.

Behind almost every website there are questions that rarely get asked until something goes wrong. Who actually owns the domain name — the organization itself, or a supplier who registered it years ago? Where is the site hosted, and under what conditions? Who has administrator access, and is that access still appropriate? Is the software kept up to date, and is it clear who is responsible when action is needed?

KVWB exists to bring order to exactly these questions. The quality mark defines a clear, practical standard for responsible web management: domains registered in the rightful owner’s name, reliable and transparent hosting, software that is actively maintained, access that is properly controlled, and clarity about roles and responsibilities between site owners and the parties who manage their websites.

The goal of KVWB is twofold. For organizations, it offers certainty: a way to verify — and demonstrate to customers, partners and regulators — that their web presence is in good hands. For web professionals, it sets a shared standard of craftsmanship: a benchmark that distinguishes structural, accountable management from ad-hoc maintenance. This matters more than ever now that European legislation such as NIS2 makes organizations responsible for the digital security of their entire supply chain, websites included.

In short, KVWB stands for the idea that a website is not a one-off product but an ongoing responsibility — and that owners deserve to know their site is managed accordingly.
