    Bio

    I’m Kevin Roper, founder of NueM8 LLC in Sutherlin, Oregon. I build WordPress plugins and custom sites for people who want the machinery visible and the maintenance simple.

    I have been writing software since the early 1990s and still treat a plugin the way I treat any other tool: it should do one job well, leave the rest of the site alone, and be understandable when you open it six months later. Outside WordPress I build Grails, React and Node applications, and I draw, carve, and paint when the code is done.

    WordPress Origin Story

    I did not come to WordPress as a blogger. I came to it as a builder of systems.

    I have been teaching myself software since the early 1990s: taking a process apart, writing the tool that was missing, and leaving something a person could run without me in the room. A coding boot camp a few years ago sharpened the modern web stack. The older habit stayed. If a job repeats, it should become a mechanism.

    NueM8 is the name for that workshop. “Neu” for new, “M8” for automate. I still build React and Node applications, and I still draw and carve when the code is done. On WordPress I publish tools that do one job, leave the rest of the site alone, and still make sense when you open them later.

    RESolute hosts full-resolution and 360-degree progress photos, pins each image to a floor plan, and keeps a timeline of the jobsite. CARTOgraph hosts drone orthomosaics so a team can measure, compare phases, and share the map without a specialist GIS desk. I develop the web application used to upload, store, view, and share that imagery from the field or the office.
