    WordPress Origin Story

    I was laid off from my corporate job in September of 2007. After taking a few months off I started looking for a job. Then the bank collapse happened in the summer of 2008 and there were no more jobs to even apply for so I started a pet services business. I started reading books on Photoshop and Dreamweaver with the purpose of building my photography website and a website for my pet business. I built both sites using Dreamweaver in early 2009.

    I learned in 2018 that people were making money blogging so I switched my pet website to WordPress and that is when I started my WordPress journey. I built a guitar chords website in 2019 with WordPress and I used Elementor. After finding that Elementor killed my page speed I started learning how to build a WordPress theme. In December 2020 I built my web design website hoping to get clients but I did not get any. I started studying JavaScript and went on a Front-End Dev journey hoping to get a job in that line of work – few interviews and no job offers.

    In early 2024 I decided to cycle back to WordPress but taking care of my ailing father stopped all my learning and building. I’m currently building a block theme to replace my classic theme for my web design website.
