WordPress Origin Story

Way back when I first started tinkering with WordPress must have been almost 20 years ago… I was good enough on Linux to be a system administrator and I had set up my own web server… I had played around with static HTML for web pages, but having read Philip Greenspun’s “Philip and Alex’s Guide to Web Publishing” I was now interested in more… I wanted to create my first database-backed website. So, I did. In doing so, I also tried others’ incarnations of database-backed websites. I met with WordPress for the first time right before the 1.5 version or something. Right when the version was bumped. I have enjoyed working with WordPress ever since. I have been putting up blogs for friends and building business websites for small to medium sized business quietly in the background. Thanks WordPress!!!
