Bio

Solo web developer and principal of GlossyDev, based in San Diego. I build and modernize WordPress sites, and increasingly headless architectures (Next.js/React with Directus) for clients who need more than a theme can give them. Working solo means clients get the same developer from first call to launch and beyond — no handoffs, no account managers, no telephone game. I take on work where the problem is genuinely interesting and the requirements are real.

Interests

Off the clock: video games, the gym, and a probably-unhealthy investment in Padres baseball, Arizona Wildcat basketball, and Capitals hockey. On the clock: I like the unglamorous problems — content models that don’t fall apart, admin experiences a non-technical person can actually use, and migrations that don’t lose anything on the way over.

WordPress Origin Story

I’ve spent fifteen years building with WordPress — custom themes, ACF, the move into Gutenberg and block themes, migrations, and the kind of long-running maintenance relationships where you learn a client’s business as well as their site. That depth is the foundation for everything I do. Over time, some of those clients grew past what WordPress was the right tool for, and rather than hand them off, I learned to build what they needed next: headless front ends, custom CMS backends, real application logic. I still build plenty of WordPress, and I still think it’s the right call more often than not. But fifteen years in, I can also tell a client honestly when they’ve outgrown it — and then build the thing that fits.

I help clients with WordPress, and more importantly, helping them after they outgrow WordPress, usually with a Next.js/React app.
