    WordPress Origin Story

    My employer was tasked with building a site which could aggregate content and matched an existing design. I had experience with building designs for flat HTML sites, and sites using our in house Symfony based CMS, but had only used WordPress with off the shelf plugins/themes. This required developing a bespoke theme, so I hacked at the Responsive theme (not realising that I should be creating a child theme) and put together the plugins needed to make the site work. I’ve been building my knowledge from there, developing a number of bespoke themes and child themes in house (including re-factoring my hacked together theme), and also creating the odd plugin. The next step will be to start getting some plugins and themes onto wordpress.org.
