About 10 years ago I started getting into some Personal Finance blogging, which is what first introduced me to WordPress. That phase of my life eventually petered out, and while in the Air Force I became interested in coding and software development. I began teaching myself C++ and some native Android development, but had no interest in Web Development at the time. Eventually I landed a job as a Junior Software Engineer.

The role was supposed to be focused on Java development and have nothing to do with websites, but on my first day I was asked if I knew anything about WordPress… lo and behold, the Java position I had moved across the state for ended up having nothing whatsoever to do with Java, and everything to do with maintaining a WordPress website.

It all turned out well though – once I started digging into WordPress and the front and back-end tools of Web Development, I ended up really enjoying it. I made a few plugins, created a few WordPress websites for clients, and the rest is history.
