Hi, I’m Fahad Murtaza. I’m a software engineer and long time WordPress contributor. I’ve been working with WordPress since 2003, back when it was still finding its identity, and it has been a core part of my professional life ever since.

I specialize in building high-performance, scalable WordPress solutions, with a strong focus on block editor architecture, performance optimization, developer experience, and real-world product stability. From plugins used in production environments to deep technical fixes in Gutenberg and SSR workflows, I care about shipping code that holds up under pressure.

WordPress is not just a tool I use. It is an ecosystem I have grown with for nearly two decades.

WordPress Origin Story

My journey with WordPress started out of necessity, not ideology.

In the early 2000s, I was building web solutions for clients who needed flexibility without constant reinvention. WordPress stood out as a pragmatic, extensible platform that rewarded understanding its internals instead of fighting them. I leaned in, learned fast, and never really left.

Over time, my work evolved from client projects to product development, plugins, and long-term maintenance. I have shipped features, fixed regressions, handled edge cases at scale, and spent countless hours making things more stable, faster, and easier for others to build on.

What kept me here was not just the software. It was the culture. WordPress values people who show up, do the work, and improve things incrementally. That mindset matches how I approach engineering.

As Mark Jaquith once said, WordPress puts food on my table. After all these years, that still rings true, and I try to give back accordingly.
