I hobby-blogged at WordPress.com for 7 years without really having a clue what I was doing. In 2016, I started doing courses about blogging, marketing, and seo on Lynda.com, and was both astounded and intrigued by all that I had been missing. I dove into Codecademy’s free courses, set up a local host instance of WordPress and started learning theme development, and put together my own website for the first time ever. Then, I spun up a Digital Ocean server, learned how to get a https certificate with a little bit of legwork and a lot less money than buying one, and launched my site. The main thing I’ve learned is how much more I have to learn. It’s all good fun though. Just trying to figure it all out, one step at a time.
