WordPress Origin Story

I first learned about WordPress from Jacob Appelbaum in September 2005 while creating a community media center in New Orleans days after Hurricane Katrina. Jacob was blogging at jacob.wordpress.com before wordpress.com was open to the general public. When I returned to California, I immediately downloaded WordPress (Version 1.5, Strayhorn) for my personal website and have been using it, for many sites, ever since. I truly love WordPress and the people who generously donate their time and skills to make WordPress all that it is and more!
