WordPress Origin Story

I started using WordPress in April 2006. My oldest daughter was a senior in high school, and the realization hit that she would leave for college in a few months. I decided that blogging was cheaper than a psychiatrist, even though I have two psychiatrists in my family.

Those first posts were navel-gazing blather and I’m grateful that no one will ever read them.

I’ve loved to write all my life and there was something about the idea that I could publish whatever I liked to the internet was enough to get me completely hooked.

In 2011, I founded the WordPress user group in Memphis, Tennessee, and led it until my husband and I moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas in 2019.

I now build WordPress sites for clients and maintain and provide content for my own website and my personal blog.
