WordPress Origin Story

I began my career as an IT Technician, specializing in computers, printers, and high-speed scanners. However, in 2007, I was retrenched due to the global recession. It was a tough time, struggling to make ends meet, but I soon found a new path. I started developing static websites for small companies, many of which were former clients of my previous employer.

Towards the end of 2007, I approached a non-profit organization with an existing WordPress website that needed improvements and spam removal. Although I was new to WordPress, my PHP experience gave me the confidence to dive in. That project marked my introduction to the WordPress ecosystem.

Over the years, I explored other platforms like Mambo, Joomla, Drupal, and Craft. But, time and again, WordPress has been the platform that consistently put food on the table and supported my journey in web development.
