I ran a software development business for over 10 years where we mostly developed in DotNet. I was wrapped up in running a business overseeing 10 developers, with our own servers in a co-lo in downtown Cleveland. I built the business around a web service I invented and built beginning in my basement. Then the bottom dropped out with the onset of the Cloud and when I trusted a crooked lawyer. I had to essentially start over and it was then that I discovered WordPress. I began by building websites for my own business and then started to do work for clients. WordPress by far the best platform for creative minds who can’t get bogged down in development issues. I have strategically narrowed down from experience my “preferred” plugins and have now a standard by which we develop sites for our customers. This year, 2018, I am introducing my own WordPress Plugin called WP Nearby Places which was developed to help small businesses like mine get to the top of local search. I am excited about this new beginnings that WordPress has enabled and I think it is safe to say my ASP days are over.
