Bio

I’m Eileen, the developer behind the Gemini AI Alt Text Generator plugin for WordPress. You can find more about my work at getsocialguide.com. I created this plugin to help website owners easily improve their SEO and accessibility by automatically generating descriptive alt text for images using Google’s Gemini AI.

Interests

I enjoy coding 💻, particularly exploring different languages, building projects, and tackling technical challenges. Outside of that, I like relaxing by listening to music 🎧🎵, discovering new artists across various genres, and watching movies 🎬🍿, whether it’s catching the latest releases or revisiting classic films.

WordPress Origin Story

My journey into WordPress started like many others – needing a flexible and user-friendly way to build and manage websites, likely for projects related to getsocialguide.com or early client work. I was looking for a platform that wasn’t overly complex but still offered robust capabilities.

What really drew me in was the open-source community and the sheer versatility of WordPress. Seeing how themes and plugins could transform a basic site into almost anything imaginable was a real eye-opener. I started digging into PHP and JavaScript, learning how to customize themes and eventually how to build my own plugins.

The idea for the Gemini AI Alt Text Generator came from recognizing a common pain point: manually writing alt text is crucial for SEO and accessibility, but it’s incredibly time-consuming, especially for sites with lots of images. I saw an opportunity to leverage AI, specifically Google’s Gemini, to automate this task within the WordPress environment I’d grown to know and appreciate. It felt like a perfect blend of solving a real-world problem and deepening my own development skills within the WordPress ecosystem.
