I’m sort of a cross between a techno-geek, artist, people person, entrepreneur, and a few other things thrown into the mix. I’m a classically trained software engineer with a degree in Computer Science from Baylor University, but I also paint, do public speaking, lead workshops on communication and personal development, drum, do yoga, and a whole bunch of other things. WordPress Origin Story

In the time before time, ThinkByDesign founder Kent Pilkington was a brave and perhaps mighty developer in the golden fields of Lotus Notes. As friends and family began to cry out, “Please help us have sites upon the Interwebs!”, Kent took pity on their plight and decided to help. But Kent, being both smart and lazy enough not to reinvent the wheel, went looking at the solutions that were already available. And lo, he came across WordPress. And it was deemed appropriate for his needs. So, one starry night, an install was performed. And there was rejoicing.

As time went on, WordPress remained the platform of choice for Kent and the clients he was serving. And it came to pass that Kent was laid off from a couple of jobs, and his mighty prowess on the golden fields of Lotus Notes was no longer entirely relevant. Because people neither hunted nor gathered there anymore. And the pickings were slim to none, leaning heavily towards the none end of things. And so Kent, being savvy in the ways of software, and possessing many skills, spake to himself.

He said, “Kent – for ’tis my name and I’m talking to myself – pick up thine ass and create thine own company based on what you currently know of WordPress and software development and website design in general. You can freakin’ do this.” And he did!

And the rest is writ in the annals of legend.
