WordPress Origin Story

The strange part is, I fell in love with the community before I fell in love with WordPress!

I was a typical Blogger guy who didn’t even consider WordPress because it didn’t offer free hosting! (Oh, I was so naive back then!)

One day, I saw a friend’s video on Facebook titled “WordCamp Baroda”. I fell in love with that video! The fact that there is such an active community of developers and bloggers in India simply astounded me!

Next thing you know, I was googling for “WordCamp Mumbai”. And to my happiness, it was happening only after 15 days! I was happy as hell (Note: I still didn’t knew shit about WordPress!).

It was in those 15 days that I got into WordPress and realized how awesome it really is! I attended the WordCamp and made tonnes of friends. Big WordPress names of India now knew me, I loved the feeling of community.

Now, a month has passed after I attended the WordCamp, my company’s website and blog are powered by WordPress. I have already taken two WordPress clients and submitted a small plugin for review!

Life’s going great! Thank you, WordPress! And a big thanks to Matt for starting things off and maintaining its culture even after 10 years!
