Jennifer DeRosa has been building websites since 1994. She sold her web development agency, TechCare, in 2021 to coach and teach others how to build websites properly. Prior to starting her web development agency, Jennifer worked for ENTEX where she performed desktop support at companies such as US Surgical, GTE, GE Capital, Reckitt Benckiser, and Unilever, and she ran the IT help desk at MBCC. Jennifer is the founder of Toto Coaching, a self-paced, online web building course with live coaching as well as The Website Coaches, a resource for businesses and organizations to facilitate building websites. She is frequently a speaker for WordPress Meetups, SCORE and others.

WordPress Origin Story

I have been coding and developing websites since I learned HTML in 1994. Originally, there was no WordPress, there were only text editors! Dreamweaver came along and this was a huge improvement to coding in text editors, and then the Internet came alive. In 2007 – 2008, it was apparent that CMSs were the future, I explored all of them: proprietary ones, Joomla, Drupal, WordPress and more. I could see that WordPress was THE future of website development. WordPress was MUCH more advanced than the others and so many developers were contributing to the software. I wanted to be part of this exciting movement, so I chose WordPress to develop all new websites!

Since about 2007-8 I have been building on the WordPress platform. I have been a member of WordPress Meetups and I have spoken to different groups about WordPress. I enjoyed the WordCamps that I attended as well as WooCamp in San Francisco!! I was an early adopter of WooCommerce and I was a huge Woothemes user until that was purchased by Automattic.

I created so many beautiful and functional sites that I was able to sell my web development agency in 2021!
