    WordPress Origin Story

    Rutgers University-Camden’s IT department hired me in 2011 as a Drupal developer, but because I was the department’s first dedicated web staff, they hadn’t figured out my exact duties. After my first month — during which I never touched Drupal and mostly did busy work — the department head told me I’d be working on WordPress instead. They never asked during the hiring process if I knew anything about WordPress (I didn’t). But I picked it up quickly and deployed my first plugin and themes a few weeks later.
