I started using WordPress 13 years ago when I began aiming to earn revenue through blogging. As a result of writing blogs for over 10 hours every day for more than three years, I succeeded in monetizing my blog. This inspired me to consider becoming a blog instructor. However, I asked myself, “How many people can actually continue to write blogs for over 10 hours a day, every day?” The answer is, not many.

Around that time, Google made the biggest changes ever to its search algorithms, and I, who was trying to make a living teaching blogging, was at a crossroads. “What should I do for a living?” Amidst my confusion, a friend suggested that I could earn a living using my proofreading and editing skills, which I had honed for over 30 years. In 2018, I decided to work as a professional proofreader and editor.

However, attracting clients for proofreading and editing was challenging, and I had to work continuously without breaks. If I fell ill, my earnings would stop. Concerned about this, I sought someone to consult about the future direction of my business.

One month after I began working with that consultant, his WordPress site broke right in front of me. All 14 WordPress sites hosted on the same service were infected with malware.

I offered to help, “Shall I take a look inside?”—not yet knowing that it was malware.

By that time, I had been using WordPress for nine years and could solve most problems myself, but I had never even heard of the word “malware.” However, since I had offered to help, I had no choice but to figure it out.

There were no articles on how to remove malware, so I had to learn on my own. Eventually, I succeeded in removing it.

That became my main job.

I absolutely love WordPress and spend my days working with it from morning till night.

I was involved in the launch of the Hiroshima WordPress Meetup in May 2024 and served as an organizer until December of that year. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to have been involved in the establishment of a community officially recognized by WordPress, which I admire so much.

Since June 2025, I have been serving as a co-organizer for the Okayama WordPress Meetup.

Since February 2025, I have been serving as a moderator for the official Japanese support forum on WordPress.org. On December 16, 2024, during the “State of the Word” event held in Tokyo, I was honored to be listed among the contributors.
