Graduating at 16 with honours and two years ahead of schedule, I went on to become an NCCP trained gymnastics coach, leading the next generation of gold medal hopefuls. Unfortunately, gymnastic centres don’t move with you as I found myself in a different area and out of a job.

After six months of not even being able to land interviews (being upfront that I’d need two weeks off a year, being the fact that I was only seventeen, etc etc just some of the reasons) I was told by my Dad to study this thing called WordPress.

I spent a month studying and then landed an internship at an agency where my job was to teach them this WordPress system that they were moving all of their sites onto. After a few months there I headed out on my own, and here I am today! WordPress has allowed me to be completely remote (I’ve since moved another four times since the gymnastics days) and has helped connect me with fantastic people and companies all over the world.

I now work as a Happiness Engineer at Automattic, mainly supporting Jetpack, Akismet, and VaultPress!
