WordPress Origin Story

My journey with WordPress started somewhere between curiosity, necessity, and a general obsession with understanding how things work on the internet.

I got my first PC in 2000 and started exploring the internet soon after, initially through online communities, forums and mIRC. By 2004, I was already building simple websites, learning HTML, working with hosting, domains and whatever else I could figure out on my own. SEO followed a few years later, and eventually digital marketing, Google Ads and online business development became a big part of what I do.

WordPress entered that journey naturally. At first, it was simply a practical tool for building websites faster, without having to reinvent every wheel myself. But over time, it became much more than that. I started working with WordPress from the perspective of someone who doesn’t just build websites, but also cares about SEO, performance, analytics, tracking, conversions, content and the business behind the website.

Over the years I’ve worked with WordPress and WooCommerce for client projects, eCommerce, content websites and my own projects, while also getting my hands dirty with themes, child themes, plugins, PHP, JavaScript, structured data, performance optimization and all the little things that eventually make you realize that WordPress is considerably more than a CMS.

What I like most about WordPress is that it sits at the intersection of technology, creativity and business. You can start with a simple idea and a blank installation and turn it into practically anything, while still having enough freedom to get under the hood when the default solution isn’t quite good enough.

So I wouldn’t say I chose WordPress at one particular moment. It became part of my journey as the internet evolved and as my own work evolved with it. More than a tool I discovered, WordPress has been one of the platforms I’ve grown alongside.
