Bio

I’ve been writing computer code for more than 50+ years.
I’ve been coding PHP for more than a quarter century!
I have a dozen kids (natural, adopted, fostered).
Plus two dozen grandkids (one is an airplane pilot – like me and her father, my son).
I am now promoting health and being kind as a method to save the world and fix the major problems in the Earth.

WordPress Origin Story

I studied computers in the Army, way back when Star Trek was a weekly TV show. The Advanced Research Projects Agency (where the in-addr.arpa domain got its name), was building ARPANET (later called the Internet).

Much later I moved to the Philippines and in “19-forgotten”, installed the first ISP in Negros Oriental. I was coding HTML by hand and in late 1995 added PHP (then called “Personal Home Page”). In about 2003 I got interested in blogs as an addition to a website. A CMS (Mambo, later Joomla!), a forum (YaBB SE, later SMF) and a WordPress blog made a complete website!

As WP matured, I stopped using Mambo and Joomla! as WordPress could be considered a CMS. As WP MultiSite matured (and Multi-Networks developed), I saw this as an opportunity to merge many sites. At one point I was Admin for thousands of domains running WP MultiSite/Multi-Network.

Now “retired”, I still have more than 50+ sites running on seven instances of WP MultiSite/Multi-Network. Recently I developed a way for WordPress to coexist in the root directory with YOURLS (Your Own URL Shortener) at http://yourls.y143.net/
