Bio

I’m the founder and Chief Product Officer at Orion, and a WordPress / web developer.

Interests

I love open source, teaching and helping people. That’s why I always make sure I spend my spare time giving back to the community that gave me so much. In my spare time, I love food, books and travels. I love movies also, but it’s more like a vice because I don’t get much out of it professionally. A vice am yet to get rid off!

WordPress Origin Story

I started working with WordPress in 2012. I’ve been freelancing on Elance and others for a few months when I was hired to develop a product designer for woocommerce. I completed the project in less than a month even though it was my first time as a WordPress developer. It was so easy to get great things done in a short amount of time because of how helpful the community is. That’s when I fell in love with WordPress.

I’m from Cotonou, Benin (West Africa). My country is a really small one, unknown in the world. Back in the days, we lacked everything developed countries consider as basics: the internet was really expensive, electricity was available only thrice in a week, and there were no payment gateways for e-commerce merchants. To make matters worse, people see Africa as a place full of scammers and lazy people, they write Africans off without taking a second look. This was very frustrating, and I took it upon myself to build one of the most successful WordPress companies in Africa and in the world at large.

Today, our team consists of people from countries on different continents. And our company is one of the biggest companies in the world that develops online products customization tools for WooCommerce with +20k users and +15 licenses sold.
