I hope this doesn’t sound weird. But long before WordPress, like most people, I fumbled with Geocities, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, Drupal, etc. And I was always able to get a decent site up with either of those solutions. But I’ve always seen WordPress, and it was ALWAYS described as a blog management system. So naturally, I never chose it, because running/owning a blog isn’t really what I wanted. But a YouTube video summed up WordPress is infinitely better than any available web solution. I struggled with the learning curve, we all do. But eventually – I fell in love with themes, the admin panel, just the easy to understand GUI that has made managing a site, or better yet: over 30, a breeze. But PLUGINS! That has blown my mind away from day one. You can literally install and setup a few plugins that allow your site to run as secure and efficiently as any other site on the web. WordPress powers over 40% of websites, including some huge names as: The White House, BBC America, Tech Crunch, Microsoft News Center, Time Inc, Walt Disney Company, Facebook Newsroom, Mercedes-Benz and so many more. Long story made simple: overtime I’ve learned just how awesome WordPress is, and just how many people also depend on it to continue powering the web, and leading innovation.
