Johan is a passionate enterprise architect, web developer, no-ops engineer and free software advocate. He is driven to create through building, connecting, and automating “things” to design fun powerful new digital experiences using open technologies.

Johan is most known as co-founder of Joomla and he was lead developer of Joomla 1.5. In the past 20 years Johan has spent most his time creating and advocating free and open source software and helping evolve the world wide web. Johan is a firm believer in sharing and collaboration, in spreading good ideas and in the power of technology to make the world a better place.

He continually pushes the people around him to be creative and connect the dots and he loves to push startups forward either as co-founder, CTO or as startup mentor and advisor.
