Hi, I’m Joel, a freelance technical writer at Hemingword. I have a deep-seated fascination wth WordPress and its mission to make the web more open and accessible.

I started out in IT as a computer technician, moved into project management, and eventually found my way into content. Turns out, I really enjoy breaking down complex stuff and making it easy to understand.

These days, I write user guides, technical blog posts, and support docs for tech companies looking to keep things clear, accessible, and scalable.

WordPress Origin Story

I’ve been fascinated with WordPress since the early days, distinctly remembering it as the ‘new CMS’ replacing Joomla, which was not fun to work with. While I do geek out over the technology, I am primarily interested in WordPress as a tool to democratize the internet.
