My journey with WordPress began during a turning point in my college life. As a dedicated Information Technology student at National University Philippines, I was always eager to explore tools that combined creativity with technical development. I had known about WordPress for a while, but it was during my second year that I finally decided to dive into it.

I was drawn to WordPress for its reputation as a flexible and user-friendly platform. For one of our class projects, we were tasked with building a functional website. I chose WordPress because I was curious about how far I could go with it and how it could simplify the web development process. That first project, a simple blog, introduced me to the world of themes, plugins, and customization. What stood out the most was how WordPress made design and development accessible, even for students who were just starting out.

That curiosity quickly turned into passion. I started building websites for local businesses, school organizations, and freelance clients. With every project, I explored deeper into WordPress… learning how to optimize for SEO, improve performance, apply custom styling, and enhance user experience. I developed an understanding of website security, analytics, responsive design, and content strategy, all while applying what I was learning in class to real-world projects.

WordPress became a core part of my growth as a developer. It helped me bridge creative thinking and practical development, and it gave me the confidence to lead projects independently. Over time, I expanded my toolkit with skills in React, Flutter, and low-code platforms, but WordPress remained my most used and most trusted platform.

Today, as I continue to grow professionally, I remain committed to open source and the WordPress community. I volunteer at WordCamp Cebu 2024 and WordCamp Asia 2025, and I continue to build solutions that are not only functional but meaningful. WordPress was the first step that led me here, and it continues to inspire me to build, contribute, and learn.
