WordPress Origin Story

I got into WordPress building websites for local businesses using off-the-shelf themes. At the time, I was mostly focused on launching sites, making customizations, and figuring out how all the moving parts fit together.

A few years later, a former manager, Mary Job, encouraged me to give support a try. I wasn’t convinced at first because I saw myself as someone who built websites, not someone who spent their day answering support tickets.

After a while, I realized support was teaching me things I wouldn’t have learned otherwise. I was seeing how real users interacted with products, where they got stuck, and what made a feature easy or difficult to use. It changed the way I think about building things.

These days, I enjoy both sides of the work. I still like digging into technical problems and building solutions, but I also enjoy helping people figure out why something isn’t working and getting them back on track. That’s a big part of what has kept me in the WordPress ecosystem.
