My WordPress journey started back in the wild west of blogging, 2005! Back then, WP was still finding its footing and I jumped on board with a self-hosted WP site. It was all about expressing myself, with a healthy dose of online diary entries and outfit inspiration.

Fast forward to 2016, the travel bug bit me HARD. My wanderlust took over, and I knew I had to share these incredible experiences. That’s when http://www.charlotteanne.net morphed into a travel and lifestyle haven, documenting my adventures around the globe.

Here’s where WP and I had a bit of a love affair. I wasn’t just a writer. I became a WP theme designer too! Creating unique WordPress themes felt like the perfect way to personalize my online space. And because sharing is caring, I loved offering some of those themes for free, giving back to the community that fueled my passion.

Life shifted, and for a time, I stepped away from the self-hosted WP world and blogging in general. But the passion never left. Now, I’m migrating everything back to a fully self-hosted site. It’s a move driven by clarity and intention. WordPress is more than a platform for me. It’s home base for my creativity and voice.

So, that’s my not-so-short WP origin story! It’s a tale of self-expression, travel adventures, theme design, and a renewed love for the amazing community that WP fosters.
