Where do I start? 35 years software development, Late 70’s Fortran to DBase, then Clipper to FoxPro, then yahoo Windows hit the scene and everything became RAD, once windows became stable around Windows 3.1 went to VB, Access and soon after Visual Studio and have been running around Visual Studio and SQL Server, MySql Server or MariaDB (as have a dislike for Oracle) and that’s basically it.

WordPress Origin Story

I am semi-retired now and I had dabbled in maintaining some ASP.Net then was offered some work on a Word Press site for a friend in 2016, I thought how hard can it be so off to Dr Google, did some R&D found heaps of plugins some okay and some good idea but crap interface and half-ass thought out and limited with development as if it were a one off and it works so that will do. Soon found out I have got to learn PHP, this is going to be a nightmare no dynamic linked compiled library’s, mixture of Java, Html, Ajax and PHP and what the hell are these data tables METADATA, TAXONAMY still can not for the life of me know why WordPress is using a total relational database server and only using a couple of tables and packing it full of delimited arrays, what-tha! I thought this is a totally new fish that has limitations to keep within the WordPress functionallity and that is the challange at the moment of forgetting what I know and as I said Dr Google to the rescue, now I have started putting together my own Plugins and possibly market them on WorPress.org.
