Identity theft is among the very egregious non-violent crimes that can be committed against a person. This occurs when someone decides to take your private information without knowledge or your given permission. In fact, this offense is more than a minor annoyance. It is an all-out assault on your own finances and credit history and it may take a significant of time if you are not attentive, to restore both. These unscrupulous burglars can deflate your bank account, inflate charges on your own credit cards, file tax returns in your name and even go as far as giving your name, address and other bogus information during their arrest. Regrettably, even children are not safe from this despicable act, therefore it may be wise to every now and then check to see if your child has a credit history in their own name.
