WordPress Origin Story

My first encounter with WP was disappointing. There were only posts and horizontal navigation. I preferred my own custom-built CMS — that’s actually how I learned PHP and MySQL.

But then, in 2009, I had to build a site for a local soccer team, and they asked me to code a scoreboard and a league table. With my skills (and budget) back then, that was too complex. So I discovered this WordPress plugin, and I was finally hooked.
