Bio

I’m an autistic parent of a child with autism, who’s married to an autistic wife. I’m legally blind (20/800, low resolution & REM / stigmatism), and have various other physical and mental disabilities. I’m an advocate for disabilities and technology for helping be more independent and lead a more fulfilling lifestyle.

I’ve ran some websites for personal family / friend purposes and am now doing so for advocacy and informational purposes. I’ve had some programming experience, spent my career in tech (before having to go out on permanent disability due to working environment changes and disability degression), and so I feel at home on the computer and in the IT field. Now my “disability career” has shifted to using my knowledge and skills to support the advancement of technology (including not specifically accessibility tech, but anything that can be repurposed or modified or newly developed) to assist or work around disabilities.

Interests

In my free time I enjoy digital photography / videography, digital art (graphic design and such), videogames (open world slow exploration at your own), and jigsaw puzzles and painting, most movies and creative (not overdramatized) shows. Being autistic, I enjoy seeing the little details often overlooked by people, whether in videogames or movies/shows or real life. I’m the kind who stops to look at the side of a building and compliment the architect for painting the rough surface texture from 2 different angles to mimic a topographical mountain range.

WordPress Origin Story

I worked with someone who, after becoming closer friends, introduced me to WordPress as an easier development platform over old school HTML (which had become a convoluted mess and disaster in many cases, especially with IE). I spent a lot of time helping him with site design but didn’t really learn much. I’d eventually started my own sites using WordPress instead of HTML. Now that I’m “retired”, I have the time to devote to getting more involved in my own sites as a way to stay active and have fun.
