    WordPress Origin Story

    I was asked to help build a new website for the allotment organization (Volkstuin Vereniging Linnaeus) and we decided to use a CMS. I had experience with Joomla and a variety of programming languages the other two with WordPress so I decided to learn WordPress and set up the site volkstuin-linnaeus.nl with WordPress. By doing so I also created a new plugin to show events form a google calendar.
    To see how things work in the WordPress environment and to make my plugin better I submitted it to the WordPress plugin directory in 2015 (as https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-google-icalendar-widget/) . With help of the issues submitted to the support forum and github I was able to make my plugin better and increase my knowledge of WordPress Php and Javascript.
    After a couple of years I ported the plugin to Joomla module to have the same functionality avalable on my Joomla sites.
