WordPress Origin Story

Many years ago I installed my first WordPress blog and set my headline so it said “Mobile Web Developer”, I then went and looked at my site on my Nokia N95 and I was shocked at how bad it appeared; I couldn’t call myself a mobile web developer when my own site looked so bad on a mobile. That prompted me to write a plugin to help make WordPress sites mobile friendly.

It was called “WordPress Mobile Plugin” and it soon had thousands and thousands of installs; that led to it being written about in books along with my other mobile web work which helps websites detect when a mobile phone is viewing their page, see detectmobilebrowsers.mobi

All of that is going back to the days when people most people didn’t even know you could go online with a mobile, people did not get it back then, thankfully, those folks who had no idea why anyone would want to surf on their phones are now the ones who are most helplessly enslvaed to their mobiles; they’re now the ones who are most at risk of walking into things in the street because they’re browsing on their phone.

Today my WordPress mission is to help turn as many websites into telephones as possible!
